A world-class multi-user supply chain
The West Pilbara Infrastructure Project involves the construction of world-class rail and port infrastructure for a new iron ore province in the Pilbara, with exports targeted for 2017/18. The first stage of the proposed project would include the development of a new deep-water port at Anketell Point and a 282 kilometre railway to support a minimum of 40 million tonnes per annum throughput from eight mining areas.
The West Pilbara Infrastructure Project will unlock the under-developed Australian resource projects in the West Pilbara and provide world-class multi-user infrastructure with the potential to unlock other West Pilbara iron ore projects. The project will also increase haulage capacity available to junior miners as well as provide an alternative export route to the increasingly congested Port Hedland Port.
